Some things that bother me in Leopard…

November 2, 2007
  • Mail will not work right sometimes.  Every once in a while – actually, twice today – it’ll stop loading ALL the accounts that I have and won’t even try to reconnect.  A tad bit annoying.
  • I’ve had issues with Leopard not recognizing my audio output.  Great.  Just recognize it, please.  Usually comes back after a restart, but still, I’d rather not have to restart EVERY day.
  • Safari “reset” on me.  Still had all my bookmarks, but all the default ones were back.  Don’t ask me why it did this, but it did.
  • Safari is loving to eat up virtual memory.  I wonder if maybe Leopard is eating TOO much RAM as an OS.
  • Two-finger right click on my iBook is really touchy.  I really need to push down with both fingers to make it work.
  • Menu extras can go crazy.  This might have something to do with the audio output not being recognized, but it won’t load one of the extras or will load them all and leave a large amount of space, which causes some headaches and the constant restarting and quitting of the menu extras.  Restarting is the only way I could fix that, but at least it never came back.

I’m sure I’ve got more gripes but they’re not coming to mind now.

Best part of Leopard…

The Bluetooth menu no longer moves around or disappears when you restart.  It likes where you put it and never leaves.  Thank god.

Oh, and I haven’t had the same volume issues where the balance would jump around.  That’s nice, too.

Leopard After One Day

October 27, 2007

Ok, so far Leopard is amazing.  I have found few problems with it and I’m sure that any bugs that I’ve encountered will be fixed in a month or so.  I’m quite pleased with Apple’s finished product.  I love Space, I love the Dock, I love Stacks, I love the GUI…there isn’t much of anything to not love.  Definitely worth the upgrade for me as I use my Mac every day for hours on end.  However, the other computer in my home will wait because they still use Classic and it’s dead now.  But hey, that’s fine for me.  I never used it.

Is this shit great or what?

October 26, 2007

I think this is amazing.

Honest to god, my number 1 new feature in Leopard…

October 26, 2007

And it’s only because I have a PPC Mac…an iBook.  I can now put two fingers on the trackpad and click and it acts as a right click.  I’ve been wanting it for SO DAMN LONG.  Now I have it.  Completely fucking pleased.

Leopard: Dock, Stacks, Exposé, Spaces, Dashboard

October 26, 2007

I think the dock is great.  It looks a bit odd, but I’ll get used to it.  I noticed that Engadget had already turned off the new dock and used the side dock on the bottom of the screen.  It’ll still take some getting used to, but it’s nice.

Stacks are great.  No longer will I need to keep so many damn applications in my dock.  I’ll be able to quickly launch them with no problems at all.

Exposé is exposé.  Nothing new here.

Spaces is great.  I love it.  I already have all the Microsoft programs to launch on Desktop 2.  This might be my favorite new feature.

Dashboard is dashboard.  There’s not much new here.  Web Clips seems to be a bit buggy and has already crashed my Dock.  I’ll wait to see if that improves at all.

Leopard: DVD Player

October 26, 2007

It’s nice.  I enjoy the overlay controls a la Quicktime Pro and iTunes full-screen playback.  It’s a much improved upgrade over the old DVD Player.

My first experience with Leopard

October 26, 2007

Ok, so my university got Leopard and since I work in the IS department, I installed it on my iBook G4.  Overall, it’s a great experience.  There are plenty of decent upgrades that I truly love and find completely convenient, but it’s not a necessary upgrade.  It’s nice, but I could’ve survived in Tiger with no problem.  I’ve already made Dashboard crash, thus killing the Dock and Expose and Spaces, but it promptly relaunched without problem.  It was caused my some Web Clips issues, so I don’t know how great of a feature that is or not.  I’ll update with more…

We did it!

Sorry about all the MacHeist updates, it’s all I got going for me. But we unlocked NewsFire! Bring it on, TextMate!

Guys, Disco and Delicious Library are amazing…

December 13, 2006

I just burned my first DVD with Disco.  It’s amazing.  I didn’t know if my iBook would be able to show the smoke while burning the DVD, but it did and it was very neat.

Delicious Library, however, was well worth my money.  I have loads of CDs.  Now I can catalog them all and it works out great.  I love it.

So the overall message of this post is…

Buy the bundle!
